What to See & Do in Detroit

Detroit has attractions and activities for a family on vacation, someone visiting for business, or a couple searching for romance.  Boating tours, museums, historic shopping, fine dinging, and educational attractions including: The Henry Ford Museum, Detroit Science Center and the City of Troy Museum are all within minutes from anywhere in Detroit.  Detroit offers culture, sophistication, old world charm, new world excitement and glamour.  While you are here you can enjoy it all.

Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village - America's largest indoor/outdoor museum celebrates the spirit of invention. The 12 acre Henry Ford Museum features world-renowned treasures such as the limousine in which President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Edgar Allan Poe's writing desk, and George Washington's camp bed. Visitors to Greenfield Village can tour the historic homes and workplaces of Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, george Washington Carver and the Wright Brothers. Spirit of Ford - An interactive science and technology center that explores present and future innovations in automotive design, engineering and manufacturing. Exhibit topics demonstrate advances in safety, testing, environment and global design. DS, MC, V. Mon.-Sun. 9a.m.-5p.m. Closed Monday. in Jan.-Feb. MGM Grand Detroit Casino - At MGM Grand you'll discover one of the largest selections of slot machines in the midwest - over 2,400 - including progressive slot machines and over 80 table games including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Caribbean Stud Poker, Pai Gow, Baccarat, Mini-Baccarat and more. Detroit Science Center - Participate in science by exploring fifty "hands on" exhibits. View a 70mm film in the space theater on a 67 1/2 ft. curved domed screen. Also presents live participatory science demonstrations.  
Eastern Farmer's - Designated an historic site, the Eastern Market dates back to 1855. It is the site of Michigan's largest fresh meat industry. Eleven acres of various shops, restaurants and sheds where farmers from neighboring states as well as Canada sell fresh produce.  Location: Russell St N of Gratiot, S of Mack Ave, 2 blks E of I-75 at Mack exit  Dates/hours open: Closed Sun; Mon-Fri, 4 a.m.-noon; Sat, 4 a.m.-6p.m.; adjacent store hours vary
